By accessing and using this Web Site, you shall be deemed to have accepted to be legally bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, please do not use this Web Site and discontinue your access immediately.
We check every one of our products by hand and we want you to be delighted by your purchase from us. Many of our products are handmade and there can in some cases be considerable variation between individual pieces (particularly where using recycled materials or wood). Every care is taken to make sure the pictures and descriptions on the website are representative, and we make sure that all goods dispatched are of equal quality.
Acknowledging and accepting your order
We will notify you by email as soon as possible to confirm receipt of your order and again to confirm payment has been processed successfully. Further emails will be sent to inform you when your order is being picked and when it has been dispatched.
We reserve the right to choose not to accept your order for any reason, at our discretion, and will not be liable to you or anyone else in those circumstances. Our acceptance of your order will only take place upon despatch of the product(s) ordered.
Reproduction of colour online is as accurate as photographic and electronic processes will allow. The colours you see will however depend on your browser and the resolution and setup of your monitor, so we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of any colour will reflect accurately the colour of the item delivered.
We do our utmost to make sure that all the prices on the website are correct but some prices may be subject to change. All prices are quoted in £ Sterling (and are inclusive of VAT), unless otherwise specified.
We provide foreign currency conversion to give estimated product values only and these are based on exchange rates published daily by the European Central Bank. Be aware that orders will always be processed in £ Sterling and your bank or credit card company may use different exchange rate values or levy additional charges which you are liable for.
We accept Delta, JCB, Maestro, Mastercard, Solo, Visa, Electron and Switch, all of which can be used when transferred to the Paypal site where you can pay as a Paypal guest. You can also pay directly using your Paypal account.
All products remain the property of Fair Trade Gifts Direct until paid for in full.
Credit Card Security
We use PayPal to process all online payments and after confirming the checkout basket and shipment details you will be transferred to the secure Paypal website to enter your card details. Both you and Fair Trade Gifts Direct will receive confirmation of the transaction but we will never be given your credit card details.
All items are subject to the manufacturers guarantee (usually 12 months) where appropriate. All goods sold comply with current UK legislation and consumers are reminded that these items and conditions do not affect you statutory rights.
All orders are delivered by signed for Royal Mail First or Second Class, Special Delivery, Standard Parcels service or via a Courier Service and delivery should take between 1 and 5 working days. Please allow up to 14 days during busy periods. If all products for your order are in stock we aim to send your order out within 24 hours of receipt of payment. If we cannot dispatch an item (due to stock availability) we will contact you via email or telephone to discuss whether we hold your order over until that item is in stock or whether you wish to cancel the cost of that item and we will refund your account for that item, or send you an alternative product.
In most cases we use a signed for delivery service, therefore please make sure your delivery address has someone present during normal office hours to sign.
The delivery charge is automatically calculated dependent on weight, and you will see the total amount you have to pay before you confirm the order. On most orders our standard postage and packaging rate is between £2.60 and £5.70. For heavier items the price is shown when you confirm the order. On orders over £50 (where the weight is not unusually heavy and priced separately) the postage is free of charge.
The responsibility for products shall pass to the customer on delivery once they have been signed for.
When shopping from outside of the United Kingdom, customers will be liable for any customs/import duty, quotas, permits, product registrations and other local requirements and these must be paid for by the recipient of the parcel. Customs policies vary widely across the world, so you are advised to check the applicable local requirements in your country before placing your order.
Please inspect your goods on arrival – if you are unsatisfied in any way please contact us by telephone or email immediately.
Returned goods must be unused and in a saleable condition and any retail packaging must also be in the same condition as when received.
If you return goods because they were ordered incorrectly or if items do not fit you will pay the return postage costs. If you would like us to replace the goods with another size or colour, we will charge carriage on the replacement.
If you return an item because it was faulty when it was delivered, we will offer you a replacement or full refund and we will also refund the basic postage charge for returning it to us but please contact us within 7 days before returning any goods to get a returns code.
All goods must be returned within 30 days of receipt, in its original condition with all the original packaging – for any reason.
For International Returns (i.e. from outside the EU), a Custom's Declaration stating that the goods are being returned, either for replacement or refund, must be included, with the shipment. We are unable to accept International returns without this correct documentation.
If you are not completely satisfied with the quality of our products please contact us immediately by telephone or email and we will be happy to provide you with a replacement.
Damaged or Faulty goods
We are very careful to check products before they are packed and dispatched, but in the unlikely event that your package arrives visibly damaged, under no circumstances should you accept delivery. However, should damage not be apparent on delivery please notify us immediately and definitely within 7 working days so that we can submit a claim without delay.
Tax Charges (VAT)
All the prices shown in our store include VAT @ 20%
Import duty or tax
Please note that if the delivery address given on an order is outside of the EU an import tax may be payable upon receipt of the goods. The amount payable depends on the destination and may be subject to change. These payments are the responsibility of the customer and we accept no liability for any payments which may be due.

If you are not satisfied with our website, your sole remedy is to discontinue your use of the website. Fair Trade Gifts Direct shall not be liable for any damages suffered as a result of your use or inability to use the website. In no event shall Fair Trade Gifts Direct be liable for any indirect, punitive, special, incidental, or consequential damage (including but not limited to loss of business, revenue, profits, use, data or other economic advantage), however it arises, whether in an action of contract, negligence or other tortuous action, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of information available from this website, even if Fair Trade Gifts Direct has been previously advised of the possibility of such damage. You agree to hold Fair Trade Gifts Direct harmless from, and you covenant not to sue Fair Trade Gifts Direct for, any claims based on or related to the use of the website. The effectiveness of these limitations is an express precondition to your use of this website.
In exchange for accepting the benefits you receive by accessing this website, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Fair Trade Gifts Direct, their agents, associates and partners, from and against any claims, actions, or demands, including without limitation reasonable legal and accounting fees, made by any third party due to or resulting from your use of the website, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any laws, regulations, or third-party rights.
